A Secret Garden Christmas

We were pleased when got told there was more funding until March 2026! So now there is more hard work to be done. We still have the 3 groups on Monday 10.30-1.30pm, Wednesday 12.30-3.30pm and Thursday 10.30-1.30. It is a great project to be involved in.

I call the Secret Garden the Roper garden as the Ropers once lived in the house. It is quite a big garden. In recent weeks they have closed off the Secret Garden as they are fixing the roof on the house there. The house is called Ysgubor Fawr and is where the Ropers used to live. Because of this, we have done some work over by the Volunteer Centre, Ty Gwyrdd. This is where we also have our lunch break.

At the Volunteer Centre, we raked the leaves from the floor whilst other volunteers did some tidying up. It is looking much better now, I have to say. The staff and other volunteering groups from the Volunteer Centre have seen the difference there. However, I’ll be glad to get back to the Roper Garden as I don’t want to see it get over grown there.

On Monday 2nd December the group made their Christmas wreaths. That time of year has come already! I’ve enjoyed making them as we had to collect holly and evergreens to make them. Everyone did a great job!

The Secret Garden Project is run by Pete Bradley. I call the garden my happy place as I love it there. It’s been another great year at the Secret Garden and I hope the funding will carry on after march 2026.

On Friday 13th December a group of us had a Christmas walk around St Fagans Museum. It was great! Both the Secret Garden and One Planet Projects went on the walk. It was fun and interesting. We had refreshments after the walk.

We break up for Christmas the week commencing 16th December and will return on the week commencing 6th January 2025.I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a happy New Year. 2025 will be a good year for everyone.
