History Project Exhibition!

The History Group did very well hosting their exhibition at St Fagans Museum. Everyone worked very hard to get it all together.

It’s been an excellent project. The history group is run alongside the gardening volunteering and both are part of the Secret Garden Project. The group meet every other Tuesday 10.30-12.30. These sessions are also run by Pete Bradley. Pete does an excellent job.

We have been researching the Roper family. The Ropers used to live in Ysgubor Fawr where the Secret Garden is. The exhibition is all about the Ropers and it went very well. We had a great turn out by members of the public and had great support from everyone. I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work and the great support from the members of the public.

Back in 2023 we won an award for our hard work, I’m so proud of it. The exhibition has brought back those happy memories.

The Exhibition took place over three different Tuesdays at the main entrance of St Fagans Museum. It went very well with lots of people coming to see it. Everyone was welcome. The first Tuesday was the 23rd July and this one focused on the ‘Life of the Roper family’. This was followed by the ‘Life of the Farmer’ on Tuesday 30th July. The final one was the ‘Secret Garden Through the Years’. I volunteered at all three of them to support Pete and the group. Pete runs the gardening and the history group.

I hope our volunteering will continue in to as a lot of hard work has gone into the projects by the volunteers and I have loved every minute of it. It has been a great experience and I have really loved going back in time as well.

I would like to thank everyone who took part and for all of their hard work putting this exhibition together. A lot of hard work was put in by doing research on the Roper family during visits to the Glamorgan Archives where we searched the family and their ancestors.
