Our Creator Volunteers have been working hard over the past few weeks to plan something very exciting – accessible First Aid training that will soon be live on the Volunteering Hub!
The idea is simple: everyone deserves the chance to learn basic First Aid skills and feel confident as a volunteer. With the support of our team, volunteers have been designing training that is fun, easy to use, and accessible to all.
What have they planned?
Together, the group chose three important topics:
- 🩹 What’s in your First Aid kit – simple explanations and demonstrations of what you need and why.
- 🚨 How to get help in an emergency – when to call 999 and what to say.
- 🛡️ How to stay safe in an emergency – remembering that you can only help others if you keep yourself safe.
The group wanted the training to be creative and engaging, so they came up with three formats:
- 🎥 A video – showing real people demonstrating First Aid skills in a clear and simple way.
- 📖 Easy Read resources – with short sentences and pictures to make the information easier to understand.
- ❓ Quizzes – fun questions to check learning and make sure the training sticks.
Why does this matter?
This training is being coproduced by volunteers, for volunteers. It shows that with the right support, people with learning disabilities can shape resources that everyone can benefit from. By using different formats, the group is making sure there’s something for everyone – whether you prefer watching, reading, or testing yourself with a quiz.

The First Aid training will be added to the Volunteering Hub very soon. Once it’s live, anyone can log on, complete the training, and feel more confident about keeping themselves and others safe while volunteering.
